The current state of the transportation network and connections are a major obstacle for the progress of the country.
Out of a ca. 8,000 kilometres of roads, only about 3,200 are asphalted roads and they are also in poor condition.
Investments are urgently required for establishing seaports and airports.
In order to efficiently utilise the natural advantages that Albania possesses, immediate measures are called for. However, such measures cannot be sufficiently facilitated due to the lack of a reliable legal area and a functioning civil society.
Albania also has a good opportunity for creating its economy in such a way that many mistakes that were committed by Western industrialised countries for the past 50 years may be avoided.
For this purpose in particular support from the European Union will contribute to significant impulses.
