• It is located in Europe and is still a developing country,
• It is highly indebted and at the same time rich in natural resources,
• Despite a millennia old culture of law there is a high crime rate,
• It has impacted Europe's history throughout the millennia and has still almost fallen into oblivion
• It is a very young nation state yet distinguishes itself by having had a state that originated millennia ago
• There are marvellous and rare sights although tourists rarely go there
• Despite compulsory education the illiteracy rate amounts to 28%
• Et cetera

Albania's future in Europe is still uncertain. It may have a stabilising function for the Balkans if state-run structures and civil society are established to a sufficient extent.

This requires external help. What the economic and social policies have failed to accomplish for decades cannot be undone in a few short years. However, the "wealthy" Europe may be able to contribute much to stabilize and accelerate this process and to enable its unhindered future advances.
